AGILE Project Management

Managing the project in ever changing environments is called Agile Project Management.

Classic Project management is the style of project management in which the project environment is constant and not changing very rapidly.

In agile environment the emphasis is on execution where as in classic PM emphasis is on planning.

Agile PM depends upon following three main factors
  • Uncertainty
  • Unique Expertise
  • speed
Agile PM Environment = [Uncertainty + Unique Expertise] * speed

Uncertainty
is of two types Internal Uncertainty and External Uncertainty.

Internal Uncertainty includes scope, schedule and cost and is more or less controlled by internal management.

External Uncertainty includes change in customer requirements, comparative moves, industry environment, Government policies etc. In short, the things that are not fully controlled by the organization.

More is the Experience (Expertise) of the organization less will be the uncertainty faced by organization and vice versa.Projects and sometime entire businesses are formed around the skills of a single guru/ small group of gurus.

presence of the computation urgency to complete the project faster. As this urgency rises more and more decision are made with less and less of information.Hence speed increases.

Urgency and Uncertainty are positively related.

PITB-LUMS IT Advance Training postponed

Everything happens for good.
Tie Your Camel and the Leave it to Allah.

The training has been postponed due to
  • The lack of students who passed the exam and submitted the fee for the training
  • Two months time span; usually employed (contracted) employees are not given long breaks
  • Lacking of marketing focus on the college and university students to participate in training
  • Bad timing to start the training as the college and university holidays have started well before the advertisements and people have already planned there summers.
  • Now, the training wont start until the next two months as Ramazan would start and it would be difficult to maintain 9-5 timings in Ramazan.
  • So, most probably this training would be canceled.

PITB-LUMS Training

At last; long break; i am going to attend two month training, Advanced IT training , at LUMS . Upon request of my colleagues and office fellows i am going to maintain a BLOG of the training so that it could be helpful for others.

May Allah help me out !! Ameen

Following is the brief introduction to the course along with link to the course schedule.

Introduction:

The biggest impediment in the growth of the IT industry in Pakistan is a dearth of adequately-trained workforce. Most fresh graduates lack the experience to handle a large-scale industrial-strength project, typically involving several thousands lines of code, a variety of OEM components, programming paradigms and development tools. Likewise, typical IT college education often lacks formal training for working in large teams -- collaboratively designing, implementing, optimizing, testing and deploying non-trivial solutions in response to an evolving set of client requirements. where as, a successful IT professional must have excellent presentation skills and command over technical writing.

The LUMS software Boot Camp is designed as an intensive 9 weeks training program to turn fresh college graduates into industry-ready IT professionals. The software boot camp will be structured around hands-on industry-style projects, involving teamwork and exposure to real development tools and development methodologies. Additionally, the boot camp will include workshops on soft-skills, imparting training in communication skills, project management, cost and risk analyses, entrepreneurship and identification of industry trends
