Under the agreement, the chain of leading Indian hospitals will not only transfer medical technology to Pakistan but its world-renowned specialists including liver transplantation expert Dr Muhammad Rela, cardiac surgeon and heart transplantation expert Dr Alla Gopalakrishna Gokhale and other experts will perform joint procedures at Ziauddin Hospital.

The Global Hospitals and Health City is India’s leading and the fastest growing super specialty care and multi-organ transplantation hospitals. “It is an initiative to provide quality primary and tertiary healthcare facilities to Pakistani people who can’t afford such facilities at Singapore or other places in the modern world. We at Global Hospitals perform transplantations at 80,000 to 90,000 USD, which easily cost 2,00,000 dollars at hospitals in Singapore,” he informed.

In addition to joint procedures and exchange of experts, Indian healthcare experts would guide doctors and advise patients in Pakistan through teleconferencing and telemedicine, Dr Khalid Rasheed said, adding that Global Hospitals strongly believes in using advanced communication technologies to prevent human lives. “We have also decided to take Pakistani patients with complicated diseases or for tertiary healthcare to our facilities at Chennai (India) but with the passage of time all such technologies and expertise would be provided in Pakistan to treat such patients near their homes,” he maintained.

The Global Hospitals India will also assist Dr Ziauddin Hospital in the treatment of cancer patients as currently the experts of cancer treatment are not available in Pakistan except at Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Lahore.

Dr Khalid Rasheed said that their chain of hospitals also possesses the expertise in renal transplantation, spinal chord surgery and the experts of these transplantations and surgeries would also be sharing their expertise and experiences with their Pakistani counterparts.

“It’s a very welcoming joint venture between Pakistani and Indian hospitals since it would facilitate millions of patients in Pakistan, who can’t afford costly healthcare facilities in Europe, America or other parts of developed world,” he added.

CEO of Dr Ziuddin Hospital, Karachi, Dr Asimuddin, could not be approached as he had proceeded to federal capital for some official engagements.
