Samsung Omnia 7 reboot loop issue when updating phone from 7390 to 7392 in Windows Phone 7: "Samsung Omnia 7 reboot loop issue when updating phone from 7390 to 7392 in Windows Phone 7"

A small number of customers with Samsung Omnia 7 phones who installed the 7390 (March) update for Windows Phone 7 may have difficulty updating to the 7392 update.

At step 6 (rebooting your phone) during the 7392 update, the phone may go into a reboot loop (in which the phone continuously reboots). The update process will appear stuck and be unable to continue.

THINGS TO TRY

Note This solution requires a Windows computer that is running the Zune software and will not work on a Mac.

If your Samsung Omnia 7 phone is stuck in a reboot loop:
  1. Turn off the phone by removing and then reinserting the battery.
  2. From your computer, visit the Samsung Omnia 7 support page:

  3. Click Software in the Downloads tab.

  6. While pressing the Camera
    button and Volume Up
button (without letting go), connect the phone to your computer.
  7. As soon as the phone displays the Download Mode, release the Camera
    button and Volume Up
    button.
  8. In the Samsung support tool, click the Start button when the computer recognizes your phone. This can take a few minutes.
Important During this process, DO NOT disconnect or power off your phone.
  9. As soon as the process is complete, disconnect the phone from your computer.
  10. Restart the Zune software and reconnect the phone to your computer. You should be prompted to update to version 7.0.7392.
  11. Follow the instructions and complete the software update process.
Note You can manually start the update process in the Zune software by clicking Settings, then Phone, and Update.
